About Us

Our Thruxton workshop has now moved to Weyhill, but it is still very much a home to our close-knit family of craftsmen. We do call ourselves a team, but we’re much more than that - perhaps because many of us here have been working together for well over twenty years.

We’ve all been here so long because we’re passionate about making the best British steering wheels ever. You don’t spend your working life designing and making steering wheels, or more than twenty years varnishing rims or bevelling strips of leather, if you don’t find great pride and satisfaction in your work. Half a century after the first Moto-Lita wheel was made, we all still find joy in holding one of our completed steering wheels - this is probably one of the most important things about us.

Before air-bags were introduced the quality of our products led to us being original equipment suppliers to the world’s most highly regarded car makers. Nowadays Moto-Lita still builds the wheel of choice for thousands of enthusiasts. Because we’re so well known and respected in the UK, many people are surprised to learn that we’ve exported Moto-Lita steering wheels to almost every country in the developed world since the ‘60s. Yet, despite our great success and massive market, we remain loyal to our simple founding objective: we make high-quality steering wheels, by hand.

When you buy a steering wheel from us, you’ll find our levels of service reflect the nature of our business - we’re a little old-fashioned. We talk with you and we listen. We aim to be helpful, informative and easy to deal with and if there should be a problem with anything we make for you, just tell us about it and we’ll do all we can to sort it out. In this age of automated mass-production and pseudo-service, we think you’ll find our approach quite refreshing.
